Following all the beating around a flaming bush I did with the GamerGate discussion posted here, I'd like to ask everyone what they think video games mean when applied to daily life and the possibility that we could all feel more and more like we're playing with our heads should Facebook and Oculus Rift actually take off as a platform for the masses.

VRFocus - This week brings the reveal of another new virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) looking to hit the market before the likes of the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus launch. Visus from VisusVR is another HMD that uses modern smartphones as a display, although doesn't use the given phone for the actual VR experiences. Instead, Visus claims to be a PC VR HMD by streaming videogames from the player's computer to the phone's screen.

VRFocus - Last month's reveal of Gear VR, Samsung's smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), gave way to a number of surprise announcements from developers pledging support to the device. One of the most welcome was Fireproof Games, the developers behind celebrated mobile puzzle series The Room, now working on a free-roaming jetpack title named Omega Agent. The experience is currently being billed as exclusive to Gear VR, but the developer recently revealed to VRFocus that it is aiming to launch on the Oculus Rift later on.

VRFocus - Earlier in September 2014 VRFocus reported that anticipated virtual reality (VR) compatible sci-fi racing title Radial-G had successfully secured funding to release a full version. Developer Tammeka Games revealed that the title would be launching on Steam in late 2014, with an updated version of its single player demo arriving before then. Today sees that demo finally launch, bringing with it a range of improvements to the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) support.

VRFocus - Earlier in September 2014 VRFocus reported on the launch of an IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign for an upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible videogame known as Windlands from indie developer Ilja Kivikangas. The title is looking to raise $14,000 USD before 30th October, and is well on its way to doing so with $8,989 raised at the time of writing. This week sees a new update for the project as its Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) compatible demo launches on the official Oculus VR Share Beta.

Darkfield Launches Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight Campaigns

VRFocus - Its been a long time coming but indie developer VR Bits has finally started its crowd-sourced push for its upcoming virtual reality (VR) space combat videogame, Darkfield. The studio has launched both a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign and a Steam Greenlight campaign for the title. The former hopes to raise $10,000 AUD to fund development while the latter hopes to secure enough positive votes to be sold on Valves digital PC store come full release. When Darkfield does launch it will do so with full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
